Set up a GA COAM Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) authorized account.

Post your GA COAM License


Once approved and games are installed, post your GA COAM Class B Location license and our GA COAM Class B Master license in each operating location, as well as required signage and notices.

Where do I apply for COAM location licenses?

What is the difference between a Class A and Class B license?

A Class A license is for the operation of COAMs that do not allow a player to carry over points won on one play to a subsequent play or plays. Licensees who have both Class A and Class B machines in their business location must apply for a Class B license.

What percentage of COAM revenue is distributed to retailers?

Location owners receive 45% of net terminal income (sales less prizes = net terminal income). 10%  is distributed to the Georgia Lottery for the HOPE Scholarship and Pre-K programs.  45% to the machine operator.

Can players use their winnings to purchase any item at my retail location(s)?

Any monetary prizes won may ONLY be redeemed for merchandise, lottery products, or fuel at the location they were won. Prizes may NOT be redeemed for alcohol, tobacco products, firearms, or cash.

How many COAM devices are allowed to operate per retail location?

A location may have a maximum of 9 COAM devices.

How much does it cost to license a COAM device per year? 

Costs to the location are $125 per machine per year.

Who regulates the Georgia COAM industry?

In 2013, GA -HB48 established the Georgia Lottery Corporations as the regulator for the COAM industry.

Terms and Definitions

COAM

COAM is an acronym for Coin Operated Amusement Machine. There are two types of COAMs in Georgia (Class A and Class B) which are defined by Georgia statute.

Class A

A Class A license is for the operation of COAMs that do not allow a player to carry over points won on one play to a subsequent play or plays. Some examples of Class A COAMs are kiddie rides, skeeball, claw machines, pinball games, typical arcade games, pool tables that accept coins or bills, and jukeboxes.

Class B

A Class B license is for the operation of COAMs that allow a player to accrue points on the machine and carry over points won on one play to a subsequent play or plays. Licensees who have both Class A and Class B machines in their business location must apply for a Class B license.

GLC

The Georgia Lottery Corporation, known as the Georgia Lottery, is overseen by the government of Georgia, United States. Headquartered in Atlanta, the lottery takes in over $1 billion yearly. By law, half of the money goes to prizes, one-third to education, and the remainder to operating and marketing the lottery.

EFT

Electronic Funds Transfer - An EFT is a payment method used to either deposit or withdraw funds directly to or from a person's bank account. All Class B License COAM applicants are required to create an EFT authorized bank account.

Location License Holder

Licensee who owns retail space where COAMs are located for public use. 

Master License Holder

Licensee who owns COAMs and places them in locations for public use.
